Well, I finally finished rewriting the first chapter of A Scandalous Liaison. Actually, what I wound up doing was writing the first chapter almost completely from scratch, then starting the second chapter with mostly new material that ties into end of the existing first scene. I made some minor edits to the scene that used to start the second chapter, and the whole thing will come in just under the 25-page limit for the Golden Claddagh, which is the contest I plan to enter it in to see if I've finally nailed it.
So, barring any major "Whoa, dude, this sucks!" emails from my CPs in the next day or two, I'm done with this revision of the front of the book. Which only leaves me with, um, 100,000 or so words left to revise.
Um, yeah, that's progress for ya!

Finishing is a HUGE deal! YOU must celebrate. My revisions are slogging along(imagine thick molasses spilled on a flat surface.lol.). I am finding out lots of new things about my characters during this time though, so I suppose that's good. My new CP is being very helpful. I must say CP's are woth their weight in gold!

Revisions are comming along more painfully than I anticipated. I'm not sure why, put its HARD for me to do them. I feel like I am making vast improvements, but I also feel like there is still more to learn. I was anticipating that this would be my last round of revisions, but I now think I have another layer left to go. We'll see... I think you had a good idea with starting your next book to keep the juices flowing. Just revision world is a little blah.

I've been in Bitch-Lainey mode for days. You know that stage where revisions suddenly become a process whereby you question every freakin' word you've written and the order its written in? Yeah, well. My revisions have come to a complete halt.

I have revised how long I wait between suspecting Loud Thing may have filled her diaper and taking her to the changing bed to verify. I will next revise the stains of bodily nature currently splorched across my favorite white Meankitty t-shirt.
LOL Jody! I don't miss those days, although I'm still doing diaper duty (2 1/2 year old boy), though I am now sometimes informed of when there is poop. Oh joy!
My newest revision excitement is sceneboarding (I'm trying that word out - do you like it?), which I have seen countless authors do, but was finally inspired to do it myself by Erica.
I'm using colored post-its on a posterboard to outline every scene, using pink for Her POV and blue for His POV and green for Everyone Else's. Started with the second book and can already see the layering I'll add to the revision. But, first, I must finish the book! I'm looking forward to doing this for Book 1 in the hopes that the current revision will take on new depth.

I really must figure out the color sceneboarding thing! It sounds so totally cool.
Then, I realize that I stand thinking "wow. this is cool. but what does it mean?" Maybe if I "saw" it, I'd get it?
